Do you use coupons?

Have you ever seen the show Extreme Couponers. If so, then you are probably like me and are extremely shocked whenever someone managers to get $700 worth of free groceries. Couponing in something that I do not do enough of.

Do you coupon? Do you EXTREME coupon? Why or why?

I used to be that girl in the store with the huge binder and coupons already pulled out but I never left home without my binder. Average savings for me would be 50 to 90% and sometimes I would reach 100% Savings.

The first year, I had amassed so much in personal care products that I had to give some away and lived off my stash for 2 years still giving stuff away.

I did ok on food but a good portion of it was packaged foods with loads of sodium. Once in a blue moon, I would find coupons for produce but most of my hauls were of frozen food (had to purchase a freezer to store all the foods). Once we lived off the stash of food for 3 to 4 months while we worked our debt snow ball.

I don’t coupon that way anymore. I shop so differently now after having a lot of health issues, one of them being from the salt intake and others being from the barrage of chemicals.

My binder sits empty and I’m preparing it to be a recipe binder but I have an envelope of coupons that I get from a service for things I need. Now, I purchase things when they are on sale. I share a garden with friends and we froze a bunch of stuff from the garden. Whole Foods offers a case discount that I use for organic frozen vegges, and when there’s a stock up price, I stock up. You can still save a lot of money by watching for sales anc making things from scratch.
